Balancing Our Minds 2014: Tools for Youth Wellness is an event organized by BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services in partnership with the Vancouver Canucks.
The event is being planned in collaboration with youth organizations that work in the area of mental health, and with youth who are passionate about breaking down barriers and creating connections.
It is a free, one-day workshop for high school age youth (13-18) in BC to learn about mental health and engage in fun activities and thoughtful dialogue. This year we are fortunate to be partnering with the Vancouver Canucks to make this event even bigger and more impactful than the last! Balancing Our Minds 2014: Tools for Youth Wellness will be hosted at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, and will be attended by approximately 1,500 youth, teachers and parents from across the province.

Please note that all youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. As this is a youth-focused event, we request that each teacher/school counsellor/parent/guardian be accompanied by a minimum of four youth.

Generation Out Tri-Cities

Happy New Year Everyone!

2013 was, in some ways, a banner year:
marriage equality and trans rights!

President Obama made history this year when he mentioned both the Stonewall uprising and gay and lesbian people being treated "like anyone else under the law" during his second inauguration speech.
"We, the people, declare today that the most evident of truths -- that all of us are created equal -- is the star that guides us still; just as it guided our forebears through Seneca Falls, and Selma, and Stonewall..." he said. He continued:

"It is now our generation’s task to carry on what those pioneers began. For our journey is not complete until our wives, our mothers, and daughters can earn a living equal to their efforts. Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law -- for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well."

Generation Out Tri-Cities is excited to start the New Year with many more group discussions and activities to come! For our next meeting on January 13th (6-8pm) please bring a LGBTQ news event that has made a difference for the LGBTQ community!

Let's make this year one to remember!
